“Urgent Update”: Ipswich have signed winger Philogene from Aston Villa.

Ipswich Town announced on Wednesday that they have signed winger Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa on a four-and-a-half-year deal worth around £22 million ($27 million).

The 22-year-old is the club’s second signing of the January transfer window, following Ben Godfrey’s loan move from Atalanta.

The England Under-21 international returned Villa from Hull on a long-term deal in the summer transfer window, but has struggled to establish himself in Unai Emery’s side and will now look to restart his career at Portman Road.

“I’m excited to be here and I know there are great players in the squad,” stated the attacker.

“I just want to play as often as possible. As a player, I enjoy dribbling, linking up play, and providing goals and assists. “I am looking forward to it.”

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna stated, “He is a player that we like, who we have tried to bring to the club in previous windows, and we believe he has the qualities to really fit in here.”

“It’s taken a little longer than we’d hoped, but Jaden remains committed to the project. It is a difficult deal for the football club to complete because he is a young player who only signed a five-year contract with Aston Villa in the summer.

Ipswich, who play Brighton on Thursday, are 17th in the Premier League rankings, a goal difference away from relegation.
