BREAKING NEWS: Following the disaster, Kansas City starts preparing for a potential Super Bowl parade.

KCTV, Kansas City, Missouri As the Chiefs prepare for this weekend’s playoff matchup against the Texans and beyond, a significant question looms.

Where will there be a celebration if the Chiefs win it all again? How does it appear? And how can we guarantee everyone’s safety?

Nearly a year ago, after the Super Bowl parade and rally, Lisa Lopez Galvan was killed and twenty people, including children, were injured.

Mayor Quinton Lucas was asked by KCTV5 what adjustments, if any, might be made in preparation for a future procession.

Lucas retorted that they prepare for the potential of a major celebration each year, such as a rally or procession for the Super Bowl.

“We consider everything that has happened in the past when we plan ahead,” Lucas stated. There was undoubtedly a tragedy this past year. Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual who lost her life as well as the numerous other people who were affected.

Although there aren’t any concrete plans yet, Lucas stated that the city intends to celebrate our teams’ victories with the neighborhood.

“Our goal is to create the greatest event that is safest for the people of Kansas City,” Lucas stated. That’s what we’re going to do, regardless of the outcome. My dedication is to that. We don’t have specifics about the plan or what is accomplished. However, we will always celebrate our Chiefs and professional teams in downtown Kansas City, and we will make sure to provide a road that is friendly and secure for everyone. That is what I can assure you of.

Lucas stated that he would give additional information during a press conference on Thursday.
