Borussia Dortmund’s Dutch international Donyell Malen has joined Aston Villa, the club is happy to announce.

The 25-year-old attacker, who has scored more than 100 goals for his club in his career, leaves the German powerhouses for an unknown sum.

Malen scored 13 Bundesliga goals and led Dortmund to the Champions League final the previous season.

Malen, who played for the Netherlands at UEFA Euro 2024, is a vital member of the team with nine goals in 41 international matches.

Before joining Dortmund, he rose through the ranks at PSV Eindhoven, where he made 80 appearances and scored 40 goals.

Villa paid £21 million up front, but performance-related add-ons may make the transaction worth £27.7 million.

Malen scored in Dortmund’s most recent match, a 3-1 Bundesliga victory at Wolfsburg, and has five goals in 20 games across all competitions this season.

After three and a half years with the German powerhouses, the former Arsenal academy star has scored 39 goals in 131 games for Dortmund.
