Evan Ferguson to Sunderland confirm as Club accept opening bid £48.2m
A loan move to West Ham is now being connected to the rumored Sunderland transfer target.
During the January transfer window, Sunderland was connected to a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson; however, there is now apparently more competition.
Although the Irishman is regarded as one of the Premier League’s top young attacking players, he has had difficulty getting regular playing time this season and has ended up on the bench at Brighton for the 2024–25 season.
The Telegraph speculated that he would be permitted to temporarily leave the Amex Stadium in the upcoming year prior to the January window.
As a result, Sunderland, Leeds United, and Celtic have all been mentioned as admirers.
But according to a recent source, West Ham is considering loaning the striker to Manchester United together with Marcus Rashford.
Ferguson was reputedly valued at an eye-watering £100 million during the 2024 transfer window as teams like Manchester United and Liverpool took notice of the 20-year-old striker’s first two seasons of first-team football, during which he scored 12 Premier League goals in 46 games.
However, it’s important to note that a number of Brighton officials have dismissed the idea of his leaving.
“I don’t know from where this information [rumors of Ferguson’s departure] comes because I said to Evan that I am happy he is here with the team,” Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler remarked during a recent press conference.
I’m pleased with his training and the physical and mental condition he is in. He obviously needs game time because he is a young player.
