Exclusive: Americans prepare new bid for Celtic star striker Kyogo

The MLS team was not encouraged to make a new approach to sign Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi,

but they are prepared to spend around £10 million to acquire the Japanese talisman in the summer transfer window.

Nevertheless, with two player slots open for the upcoming season in February,

the aspirational team is looking for a top-tier center-forward.

Last Thursday, former Parkhead manager Ronny Deila was officially announced as the new head

coach of the team. CEO Garth Lagerwey pledged additional significant changes in the upcoming year after hiring Chris Henderson, a former Inter Miami official, as their new chief football officer.

“We made a commitment to renovate the club,” he stated. “This is the first significant one, and more

will be added in 2025 to improve this.”

The designated player is a roster spot reserved for elite athletes who make a lot more money than the typical MLS player. Furuhashi is currently bound by a new four-year contract of £20,000 per week

that expires in the summer of 2027. Despite being linked to a move to Manchester City last summer, Atlanta showed the most interest because Celtic was unwilling to sell before another Champions

League run.

Furuhashi, who was signed by Ange Postecoglou, had a spectacular debut in Glasgow, scoring 34

goals across all competitions before netting 19 goals in the previous campaign. He has eight goals

from 24 appearances so far this season, six of which have been in the Premiership.
