Both Tottenham and Liverpool have had a tough last few fixtures since they each comfortably defeated reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Now, the tentative table toppers and their mid-table hosts will look to bounce back to winning ways in the EPL, at the expense of the other.

Spurs have frequently switched back-and-forth between ridiculous and sublime so far this term, and the upshot of such inconsistency is they are currently behind the ambitious expectations set by manager Ange Postecoglou.

Liverpool, meanwhile, had all the appearance of runaway league winners when a 2-0 success over Pep Guardiola’s beleaguered City extended the gap between leaders and the winners of the last four straight titles to 11 points.

However a pair of draws in their last two Prem outings have not only allowed Chelsea to reel them in to just two points (although Liverpool retain an extra game to play), but Arsenal remain on the periphery as well.

Something has to give in North London on Sunday. So, how are the two squads looking?

Injuries continue to play a considerable role in Spurs’ struggles to juggle a very busy calendar with their strong expectations. Ruled out for certain are goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, defenders Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and attackers Richarlison and Wilson Odobert.

In addition, Timo Werner and Mikey Moore are both ill and will be touch-and-go to feature for the visit of Liverpool, but Destiny Udogie is expected to return from his knock.

Rodrigo Bentancur continues to serve his lengthy domestic suspension for a racial slur about teammate Son Heung-min.

Tottenham predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Forster (GK) — Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence — Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison —Kulusevski, Solanke, Son

Injured: Vicario, Davies, Romero, Van de Ven, Richarlison, Odobert, Werner, Moore
Suspended: Bentancur

The Reds, meanwhile, hope to be past some of their recent injury setbacks.

Conor Bradley (hamstring) and Ibrahima Konate (knee) are likely to be out until the festive fixtures have concluded, but Kostas Tsimikas is back from an ankle problem.

Andy Robertson was able to serve his one-game suspension for a sending-off against Fulham during the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Southampton.

Had he been suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards, serving the suspension in the midweek cup game would not have been an option. But because it was a red card for two bookable offenses, the ban was allowed to be served in Liverpool’s next domestic game irrespective of competition.

Liverpool predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson — Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai — Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Injured: Bradley, Konate
Suspended: None
