Bears RB D’Andre Swift receives a ‘positive’ injury update ahead of the game against the Vikings.
The Bears received positive news regarding RB D’Andre Swift.
Heading into their Week 15 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, the Chicago Bears received encouraging news about running back D’Andre Swift following earlier concerns. After missing practice Thursday and Friday with a groin injury, head coach Thomas Brown shared an optimistic outlook on Swift’s availability, according to CHGO Bears on X.
“I’m positive about it,” Brown said when asked if Swift would play.
Swift’s status is critical for the Bears, especially given their depleted running back room. With Roschon Johnson ruled out, Travis Homer as the only healthy backup, and Ian Wheeler on injured reserve, Swift’s availability could make or break the Bears’ offensive plans. The situation is further complicated by the midseason trade of Khalil Herbert to the Bengals, a move the Bears might now regret.
Despite a slow start to his first season with Chicago, where he tallied under 80 rushing yards across the first three games, Swift has shown improvement. From Weeks 4-8, he consistently delivered, rushing for fewer than 90 yards in just one game.
Swift’s role on Monday will be vital for the Bears as they aim to secure a key divisional win.
