Pittsburgh Steelers safety suggests team could miss breakout star against Eagles.
Steelers Prepare for Eagles Without Key Players, Including George Pickens and DeShon Elliott
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers are bracing for the possibility of facing the Philadelphia Eagles without two of their standout players. Wide receiver George Pickens and safety DeShon Elliott are both likely to miss the game.
Backup safety Damontae Kazee revealed that he and Cam Sutton are ready to step into Elliott’s role. “Me and Cam are going to be filling in for his role, and also playing our role,” Kazee said.
Elliott’s absence might push Minkah Fitzpatrick to reprise his 2023 role in the box rather than his usual position as a single-high safety. However, Kazee, now in his third season with the Steelers, is confident in his partnership with Fitzpatrick. “This is my third year here. Mink and I know how to disguise things and give teams different looks.”
The Eagles boast the NFL’s top rushing offense, averaging over 190 yards per game, while the Steelers’ defense, strengthened by key additions, has limited opponents to just 91.5 yards per game this season. Despite the challenge, the team remains focused on adapting to Elliott’s absence and maintaining their defensive edge.
