Match Officials Announced for Preston North End vs. Leeds United
The officiating team for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship match against Preston North End at Deepdale this Saturday has been confirmed, with John Busby appointed as the referee.
Busby, who spent nearly a decade as an EFL Assistant Referee, was promoted to Select Group 2 ahead of the 2021/22 season and has since officiated over 250 matches in the English Football League.
He has previously refereed just one Leeds United game, overseeing last season’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win at Carrow Road, where Daniel Farke’s team overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat Norwich City.
Preston North End have a solid record under Busby’s watch, winning five of 10 matches and losing only twice. However, in their most recent outing with Busby in charge, they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
So far this season, Busby has officiated 14 matches, including 13 in the Sky Bet Championship and a Carabao Cup tie between Wycombe Wanderers and Aston Villa.
