JUST IN; FBI Investigates International Crime Ring Targeting NFL Star’s Home

The home of Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Linval Joseph has been targeted as part of a nationwide series of burglaries over the past month, specifically aimed at professional athletes, including prominent NFL players. Joseph’s house, located in Sunfish Lake, a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota, was burglarized in November. Local police reported three additional break-ins in the area between September and November, which appear to be linked to a larger network of burglaries targeting athletes across the country.

West St. Paul Police Chief Brian Sturgeon noted that the perpetrators use advanced methods to determine when residents are away and to locate exterior cameras. These crimes involve multiple individuals, adding to the complexity of the situation. This is particularly unsettling for Joseph, who splits his time between Texas, where he plays professionally, and his Minnesota residence.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the FBI is investigating the incidents, which are believed to be the work of an international organized crime group linked to a South American ring. “It’s legitimate,” a source said. “This is a transnational crime ring that, over the past three weeks, has been targeting NBA and NFL players nationwide.” The burglaries typically occur when the athletes or their families are not home.
