JUST NOW: Player ‘expected to leave’ West Ham United in January – Makes his ‘priority’ destination clear.
Back in July, we covered claims from Brazil which stated West Ham United’s
Luizão wants to revive his career under Julen Lopetegui, after being overlooked by David Moyes.
The centre-back arrived at West Ham from São Paulo in January
2023 and Moyes didn’t give him an opportunity with the first team.
There’s been no improvement under Lopetegui as the 22-year-old is still
waiting to make his senior debut for West Ham. He’s had minutes with
West Ham U21s but that hasn’t satisfied him.
According to UOL, the defender is ‘expected to leave’ the Hammers in the winter market.
Their title says his ‘priority’ is to move to Brazil and he’s already expressed his desire to return to his country.
It’s claimed Luizão wants to be close to his family as he’ll soon become a father.
A move to the Brazilian league will help him achieve this and enjoy regular minutes,
which wasn’t made available to him at the Premier League side.
West Ham, for their part, will let the player leave on loan with a buying option in January.
The report doesn’t mention any interested parties but points out clubs
that had previously looked at the West Ham man.
