France Superstar’s Ascent From Immobile To Lautaro As A No. 9 Continues Inter Milan Coach’s Record Of Developing Strikers
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter striker Thuram has virtually exploded in goalscoring form this season.
Last campaign, the Frenchman’s contribution was vital. He gave Inter a mixture of goals, assists, linkup play, and a threat in behind that was key to their Serie A title victory.
However, the 27-year-old was not exactly prolific in his first season at Inter.
Thirteen goals in Serie A was a respectable haul. But it was far behind the 24 goals that Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez bagged in the league.
This time out, Thuram has already bagged ten goals. He is just two goals behind Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui in the Serie A scoring charts as things stand.
Immobile To Lautaro To Thuram – Inzaghi Continues “Magic Touch” With Strikers
Thuram’s growth as a Number Nine has owed a lot to little tweaks to his game.
This season the France international has tended to play a little more aggressively in the penalty area.
And there are more poacher’s instincts on display from Thuram. Many of the goals he’s scored have been very simple ones, coming from reading situations and timing his runs for an easy finish.
That was the case with Thuram’s goal against Parma on Friday, gambling at the far post from a corner.
