Arsenal are out to claim their fifth successive victory on Sunday afternoon as they travel across London to face Fulham.

This is a game the Gunners will be keen to snag three points from not only for their title aspirations. Last season, the Cottagers drew with and beat Mikel Arteta’s side, thus playing a key role in the failure of Arsenal’s title tilt.

The visitors were woeful on their previous visit to Craven Cottage, losing 2-1 on New Year’s Eve amid a wretched run of form. Unlike last time, Arsenal are heading into this contest with confidence in abundance. They’re once again proving themselves to be a team capable of winning by an array of methods, with set-pieces coming to the fore against Manchester United on Wednesday.

A Gooner-inspired Fulham represent a tough challenge this weekend, though. Marco Silva’s men are up to sixth in the table after beating Brighton 3-1 on Thursday and snagging a point in N17 last weekend.

They’re capable of competing with anybody in the division, that’s for sure, and this is a banana-skin contest for the Gunners after the highs of midweek.

Here’s our preview of Fulham vs Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Fulham team news

Reiss Nelson wouldn’t have been able to face his former club anyway, with the on-loan winger doing his hamstring just before he was set to be substituted on Thursday night. Cruel.

Former Gunners Bernd Leno, Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe should start against Arteta’s men on Sunday.

Fulham are without the suspended Tom Cairney after he was sent off against Tottenham last weekend, while Joachim Andersen is struggling with a calf injury having recently served a one-game ban.

Predicted Fulham lineup vs Arsenal: Leno; Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Berge; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez.

Arsenal team news

Arteta confirmed that both Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori were absent from training on Friday, but the pair have not yet been ruled out of Sunday’s game.

In their absence, the boss does have options. Jakub Kiwior deserves to retain his place alongside William Saliba, but i’d be surprised if Oleksandr Zinchenko retains his place. Jurrien Timber could shift over to left-back with Thomas Partey doing a job at right-back. The Ghanaian has performed pretty well in the role this term.

There are unlikely to be many alterations to the front six, although Mikel Merino and Leandro Trossard are contenders to come in to the side.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Fulham: Raya; Partey, Saliba, Kiwior, Timber; Rice, Merino, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz. Trossard.

Fulham vs Arsenal score prediction

I really like Fulham. They’re so nicely balanced and have refused to blink despite losing a crucial asset in the summer. Joao Palhinha’s departure has been mitigated by Sander Berge’s arrival and Sasa Lukic’s improvement. The pair provide a stable base in midfield and allow their creators to shine.

Arsenal have their work cut out here, especially with the hosts winning on Thursday, but the Gunners have reached that point when you’d back them against anybody. This team remembers, and they’ll be desperate to get one over the Cottagers given what happened last season.

Sorry; Alex, Emile, Bernd… you’re going to be on the receiving end of a defeat on Sunday.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Arsenal
