Manchester United will seek to respond to Ruben Amorim’s first defeat when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

A 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday represented the new Red Devils boss’ first Premier League loss and a first top-flight defeat as a coach since December 2023.

The defeat left United down in 11th place in the table, seven points off the top four and three behind next opponents Forest, who were beaten 3-0 by champions Manchester City this week.

Amorim is likely to make some changes to his team as he eases some long-term absentees back to full fitness while allowing others to acclimatise to his methods in these early weeks of his tenure.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted lineups.

Amorim said after the Arsenal defeat that he was having to manage the work load of some players carefully, so there could be changes to the lineup for Forest’s visit.

Mason Mount is one who could drop out, with Marcus Rashford an obvious replacement despite some backlash to his role in the Arsenal loss, and Joshua Zirkzee could also return to the lineup.

Tyrell Malacia may need to keep his place due to Luke Shaw‘s latest injury, although it’s possible that Diogo Dalot will start on the left as the Dutchman continues to build full fitness.

Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez are back from suspension, and Leny Yoro could be in line for his first start in the Premier League after impressing off the bench at the Emirates Stadium.

Man United predicted lineup (3-4-3, right to left): Onana (GK) — Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez — Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Mainoo, Dalot — Zirkzee, Rashford, Fernandes

Injured: Lindelof, Evans, Shaw
Suspended: None

Ibrahim Sangare and Danilo are still working on their recoveries and will not likely be involved this weekend.

Anthony Elanga could face his old club at Old Trafford.

Nottingham Forest predicted lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Sels (GK) — Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno — Anderson, Dominguez— Elanga, Gibbs-White, Jota — Wood

Injured: Sangare, Danilo
