BBC News: Everton and Wolves fans made their feelings towards VAR clear after James Tarkowski’s disallowed… Details

Everton and Wolves fans made their feelings towards VAR clear after

James Tarkowski’s disallowed goal in Wednesday’s Premier League match.

Journalist James Nalton posted on X (4 December) in the wake of Tarkowski’s

headed effort being chalked off due to Orel Mangala being in an offside position, despite the Belgian having little impact.

VAR denied the Toffees from going 2-0 up in their must-win match,

but Mangala soon had the ball in the back of the net and two second-half own goals from Craig Dawson completed a comfortable 4-0 win.

Dalton said: “Wolves fans sing ‘It’s not football anymore’ as

James Tarkowski’s goal against them is being checked at length by VAR.

“It’s disallowed and they further voice their disapproval at VAR, joined by the Everton fans.”

Justice done for Everton after disallowed James Tarkowski goal

Having gone 1-0 up early on through Ashley Young’s free-kick, Toffees fans were likely fearing the worst following Tarkowski’s goal being chalked off by the most baffling of VAR decisions.

Wolves have had their fair share of gripes with the use of video technology in the Premier League, but despite it going their way on this occasion, voicing their opinions in the way they did is no surprise.

While Tarkowski was denied his chance to put daylight between the sides, Mangala did just that within a few minutes, and Dawson’s first own goal early in the second half saw the Blues get lucky with VAR.

Iliman Ndiaye’s seeming impeding of Wolves keeper Jose Sa wasn’t penalised by the officials, all-but sealing the points for Dyche’s side before another Dawson horror show sealed the victory.

As Toffees supporters celebrate a ton of goals at Goodison Park, it will be nice to get back to winning ways and be able to stub VAR’s strange decision-making in the process.

A former Blues player has put forth a drastic remedy to address the current team’s lack of “accountability” in other Everton news.
