New details have emerged about the Chicago Bears’ decision to dismiss head coach Matt Eberflus following their 23-20 Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions. ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that frustrations boiled over after the team’s sixth consecutive loss, with players and front-office members questioning the franchise’s direction. Hired in 2022, Eberflus posted a 14-32 overall record, including a troubling 5-19 in one-score games. His mismanagement of key moments, particularly in the Detroit game, was the tipping point. “What Poles saw in that locker room on Thanksgiving Day convinced him Eberflus was no longer that leader,” Cronin noted, referring to Bears GM Ryan Poles’ decision.
