BREAKING NEWS: Watford tipped to cancel Daniel Jebbison loan deal in January,as player is set to return to Bournemouth
Watford have made a strong start to the new Championship season and are in the mix for a top six finish.
Many tipped the Hornets to struggle this year before the campaign got underway, but Tom Cleverley’s side have won nine of their opening 18 fixtures.
Focus will now turn to the January transfer window, as the club looks to strengthen their position in the table.
Supporters will be keen to see the team do business, otherwise they could be at risk of losing ground to their rivals.
Watford January fear revealed
When asked what their one fear for the January transfer window is, FLW’s Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie identified Daniel Jebbison remaining at the club.
He has claimed that the Bournemouth loanee must return to the Premier League side, so that valuable competition for Vakoun Bayo should be signed in his place.
“I think it’s clear going into the transfer window that [my biggest fear is that] Daniel Jebbison’s loan isn’t cancelled,” Beattie told Football League World.
“Since coming to us at the beginning of the season, he hasn’t done anything.
“He hasn’t featured very much, when he does come on he’s well off it, when he’s fit he still isn’t picked in the squad.
“I don’t really know what he’s doing here, and he’s using up a valuable space within the squad.
“So we need to replace Daniel Jebbison with a striker that can hit the road running, come straight into the squad and put pressure on Vakoun Bayo’s starting place as striker.”
Watford league position
Watford are currently sixth in the Championship table after 18 games.
Cleverley’s side are unbeaten in their last four fixtures, and sit two points clear of West Brom in seventh.
However, Blackburn Rovers in eighth are also two points behind and have a game in hand.
Next up for Watford is a trip to face Cardiff City on 7 December.
Daniel Jebbison loan deal hasn’t worked for Watford
Jebbison has had a difficult couple of years with injury, but this loan move to Vicarage Road could have helped get his career back on track.
But nine Championship appearances, including two starts, has not led to an exciting move for either party.
If Watford can cancel the loan in January then it might be for the best, as it would free up a loan space in their squad.
Some proper competition for Bayo’s game time could be just what Cleverley’s side needs this winter to improve their promotion chances for the second half of the season.
