Archie Gray’s agent has addressed whether Leeds United’s financial situation influenced his £40 million transfer to Tottenham.
Reports indicated that Leeds needed to offload a player to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and since Gray was an academy graduate, his sale would count as pure profit in their financial records. This was effectively confirmed in a statement from the club.
Gray’s representatives were reportedly unhappy with how Leeds managed the situation over the summer. Despite Leeds’ failure to secure promotion, Gray had no immediate desire to leave.
Initially, Gray seemed destined to join Brentford before Tottenham intervened at the last minute, further fueling speculation that Leeds had been actively seeking buyers for him.
