Aston Villa is set to seal a huge signing of their long-time transfer target, Jonathan David, as the star outlined his wage demands ahead of his contract expiry.

Red hot Lille striker has revealed the wages he needs to be guaranteed should Aston Villa secure

him on a free transfer next summer

Long-time Aston Villa transfer target Jonathan David has outlined his wage demands,

according to TuttoSport, ahead of his contract expiry next summer.

It’s been rumoured over many transfer windows that the Villans have been admirers of the Lille striker and,

should Ollie Watkins or Jhon Duran be the subject of hefty bids going forward,

David could be the perfect man to lead the line for Unai Emery’s side.

The 24-year-old’s agent, Nick Mavromaras, has made the forward’s wage demands clear,

stating that he must be guaranteed a pay-check of €6 million over five years in addition to commissions and

signing bonuses since the Canadian will be a free agent come summer 2025.

Though not a cheap deal on the face of it, considering the fact that there would be no transfer fee involved and

that the wage package would be spread over a number of years,

it could be too good an opportunity for Emery and president of football operations Monchi to turn down.

David has begun the 2024/25 season in spectacular style,

bagging four goals in four Champions League games against European giants in Real Madrid,

Atletico Madrid, and Villa’s Wednesday night opponents Juventus.

In addition, he has scored seven in 12 in Ligue 1 with his Lille side sitting fourth in the French top tier.

Should Villa swoop in for David, they’d face tough competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea,

Arsenal, and Liverpool, as well as top Italian clubs Juventus and Inter Milan who are also keen on his signature.

The Brooklyn-born striker played against the Lions twice last season as Villa drew the

French side in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, edging past them on penalties.

Despite Les Dogues scoring three times against Emery’s side over the two games,

David failed to find the net during his two auditions in front of Emery.

It’s doubtful that that would put the Claret and Blues of, however,

with his start to the current campaign being too hot to ignore.
