‘Horrible’ – McCann slams what he saw Rangers man do v St Johnstone
During Rangers’ 1-0 victory at St Johnstone on Sunday, Neil McCann blasted Robin Propper for a “horrible” mistimed
defensive header in the first half.
After a long kick up the pitch from the home team, the 31-year-old made a mistake and missed a straightforward header,
encapsulating the Dutchman’s early struggles at McDiarmid Park (1 December).
Speaking live on Sky Sports Football’s co-commentary at 12:34 p.m.,
McCann summed up the Gers center-back’s rather dismal performance.
“Wicked cross isn’t it,” he added, adding that John Souttar was once again putting himself in a strong position. Propper’s
terrible miss was completely out of timing.
Neil McCann slams Robin Propper in Rangers error v St Johnstone
Since moving to Ibrox in the summer, the former Twenty player hasn’t really fitted in, as evidenced by his
difficulties at McDiarmid Park.
Leon Balogun warmed up as a possible replacement as the centre-back appeared to have a possible problem from the
beginning of the match.
Propper played the first forty-five minutes without giving up a goal before getting dismissed during the half, therefore the Nigerian wasn’t used.
It wasn’t surprising that St. Johnstone didn’t give up because he didn’t have many real opportunities,
just as it wasn’t surprising to see him hooked.
It’s safe to suggest that the Dutchman must support his Light Blues ideals or risk Philippe Clement benching him frequently.
Without having to cope with the insufficiencies of the seasoned defender who hasn’t been able
to adjust to the Scottish Premiership, the Belgian is already under a lot of strain.
Keevins has proposed that Stewart hold a service of contrition in response to Clement’s actions, which is another Rangers story.
