Tottenham tried to sign an emergency goalkeeper when Hugo Lloris got injured
Due to Guglielmo Vicario’s need for ankle surgery, the Australian has now been without his starting goalie for months.
Although Tottenham has performed admirably in Europe this season, they suffered their first tournament loss against Galatasaray in their most recent match.
Additionally, Thursday is anticipated to present another challenging matchup against Roma, a well-known European team.
However, prior to their journey to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, their center-back Mats Hummels has been speaking highly of the Lilywhites.
The World Cup-winning center back acknowledged to the media prior to Thursday’s match that he did, in fact, have a soft place for the Lilywhites.
He declared, “Tottenham is one of my favorite teams; they have great players like [Heung-min] Son who always makes you suffer.”
“They are a team that will try to involve the stadium and put us under pressure tomorrow.”
Ironically, Hummels, a former defender for Borussia Dortmund who is now a free agent, had discussions with Tottenham throughout the summer.
However, he chose to move to Serie A, where Roma is currently in a dreary 12th place; similarly, Roma is currently in a dreary 20th place in the Europa League.
