EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) – Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins is expected to miss this week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a knee injury.
Dobbins sustained the injury during the first half of the Chargers’ 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. He had accumulated 40 yards on six carries and 19 yards on three receptions before exiting the game.
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh chose not to provide further details about the injury on Wednesday but confirmed that Dobbins is “working through something with his knee.”
Dobbins had been enjoying a strong first season with the Chargers (7-4) after battling injuries throughout his previous three years in Baltimore. He has rushed for 766 yards and scored eight touchdowns over 11 games, making him a leading contender for the AP Comeback Player of the Year award.
The running back’s career has been plagued by significant injuries, including an Achilles tendon tear in the 2023 season opener for Baltimore and an ACL tear in 2021. These injuries hindered his performance, and he appeared in just 24 of 67 possible regular-season games for the Ravens, who selected him in the second round of the 2020 draft.
