Fresh update emerges over Liverpool signing 24 y/o “with all the ability in the world”

Liverpool don’t see Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo as a priority target in the January transfer window, according to former Manchester United scout Mick Brown.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season for the Cherries this season,

scoring four times in the Premier League, including finding the net in the 2-1 win at home to Manchester City.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Semenyo, but speaking to Football Insider,

Brown poured cold water on the rumour, saying a January move is unlikely:

“That’s not one I’d expect to happen. The lad has done really well so far this season,

and he’s a very talented player. There are quite a few teams looking at him because of his performances.

“Liverpool may well be one of the clubs who have checked him out,

but he’s not one of the names at the very top of their shortlist.

Being a replacement for Mo Salah is a major step for anybody,

because we’re talking about one of the very best players in the world.

“Semenyo is quick, very good on the ball, powerful and direct.

A player like that is bound to attract interest from elsewhere. But Salah would be a major,

major miss for Liverpool, and they’d need to replace him with top quality.

“From what I hear, they’d prefer to sign more of a high-profile player if he does leave.

They want somebody who can step into the team and make a real difference because it will take a lot to

make up for what you’d be missing without him.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool not signing Semenyo…

Semenyo is a player with a bright future who could be a great signing for Liverpool – he has scored at Anfield in the past – but not adding him to Arne Slot’s squad in January is no disaster.

The Reds are already stocked full of attacking options, with Federico Chiesa almost becoming a forgotten man, so there is no great need to bring in reinforcements midway through the season.

Semenyo could be a strong option further down the line, with Bournemouth teammate Lewis Cook claiming he has “all the ability in the world”, but that could depend on Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield.
