John Robertson’s assessment of Celtic’s penalty against Hearts is not available to Martin O’Neill and James McFadden.
For the first time in what seems like an eternity, Celtic’s victory over Hearts passed with little to no controversy regarding refereeing or VAR decisions.
Since VAR was introduced more than two years ago, Celtic has seemed to be plagued by controversy, which is certainly to be expected given that they are the most dominant team in SPFL games.
When asked about the decision to award the penalty, Robertson, Martin O’Neill, and James McFadden all had their opinions. The former Tynecastle player stated that “it was a coming together” of the Celtic and Hearts player.
Naturally, I would have been predicting it ten minutes in advance, O’Neill said to Sky Sports Scotland. No, he must provide it. The referee’s got to give the penalty.
It’s a coming together,” Robertson said. The referee didn’t give you a worse one before.
But hear us out: we know why he was granted it. I return to Willie Young’s well-known statement that penalties are like boiled eggs. Even though there are some easy and some hard ones, they are still penalties.
