BREAKING NEWS: Leicester tipped to appoint new manager who Everton are eyeing – Gary Lineker confirms.
Everton were held to a goalless draw against Brentford on Saturday at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche’s men failed to break down the 10 men of Brentford in a dull encounter on Merseyside, leaving them winless in four games.
Everton reside in 15th and look set to be involved in another relegation dogfight under Dyche’s stewardship.
The former Burnley boss has come under fire from supporters in recent weeks as his side fail to excite week in and week out – netting just 10 goals in 12 games.
So, that’s put Dyche under huge pressure with the likes of David Moyes mooted to replace him until the end of the season.
Everton have also been linked to a manager who Gary Lineker is now urging Leicester to appoint after sacking Steve Cooper.
Gary Lineker urges Leicester to appoint Lee Carsley
Lee Carsley has been tipped to join Everton in recent weeks after impressing in the dugout for England.
The former Everton midfielder was also a roaring success with the England under-21s, winning the Euros in 2023.
So his potential appointment at Goodison Park would certainly excite fans, however, it seems Leicester may be better-placed to land his signature at the moment.
Lineker, speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, has just urged The Foxes to target Carsley over the likes of Graham Potter and Moyes.
Lineker: “I’d go with Lee Carsley.”
Micah Richards: “What a shout that is, great shout.
Lineker: “Well maybe, I think he’s really got something and I think there’s a little bit of a reluctance in the Premier League opposed to perhaps other leagues and I think with possible exceptions – Brentford, Brighton, who have brought in young managers that they think have got something about them, a real coaching ability that I think is there and you take a bit of a punt.
“Now, it’s difficult with a club that’s obviously going to be fighting relegation. It will be a tough first managerial job, in terms of a club size for someone like Carsley but the way that England players responded to him, you could tell that they respected him as a coach, that they thought that he had good ideas.
“We thought he was really imaginative and brave. So if it was down to me, which it’s categorically not, I would possibly think of someone like that, if they don’t go down the tried and trusted experienced route of someone like David Moyes.”
Everton can’t afford to give Sean Dyche much more time
Everton really can’t afford to give Dyche much more time as they’re now set to miss out on a number of targets that were lined up to replace him.
Leicester have acted fast and it’s been widely reported that West Ham could dismiss Lopetegui in the coming weeks, too – so they’re set to be left behind if they stick with Dyche any longer.
The Toffees have an incredibly tough run of fixtures ahead.
