The Premier League and Championship game calendars will be altered as a result of Bobby Charlton’s Cup.

Four non-league clubs have chosen not to participate in the Charlton Cup,

a competition between Premier League and Championship teams,

which will begin next month.

The two League Two relegated teams and the top 14 non-promotable teams from the previous season’s Charlton Cup were invited to participate.

However,

Dagenham & Redbridge, Wealdstone, Woking,

and Ebbsfleet have chosen to take their positions in place of Barnet, Eastleigh, Solihull, and Southend,

who have chosen not to.

Among the 16 elite teams competing are Manchester United,

Newcastle United, and Tottenham.

Eight groups of four will compete in the competition, with the top two finishers from each group advancing to the knockout stages.

The Premier League 2 teams will play all of their games away from home,

same like in the EFL Trophy,

and the hosts will keep all of the ticket sales.

The Premier League has contributed £1 million to the cup’s combined prize pool,

and National League clubs will keep all proceeds.

Tuesday, November 12 and 22 will be the dates of the first round of games, and either Tuesday,

April 1 or Wednesday, April 2, 2025,

will be the date of the final.
