According to an insider, Aston Villa signed a defender in January.

According to the club’s former scout, Aston Villa intends to sign a new

star center-back during the January transfer window.

The club wants to increase their depth at the back, Mick Brown,

who is still very well-connected at Villa Park and was Man United’s senior scout for more than ten years,

exclusively told Football Insider.
This comes after Football Insider reported on November 16 that Unai Emery is eager to add new defenders,

with the team aiming to sign Diego Llorente from Real Betis.

After a good season thus far, Villa is eager to stay in the Champions League and will

want to bolster their team’s quality in order to increase their chances of success.

Brown clarified that in the next window, the recruitment team will evaluate which

squad areas require quality depth additions in collaboration with Emery.

In light of concerns regarding their defensive consistency, the club will prioritize

acquiring a crucial player at center-back.
