Chelsea could sell yet another player to AC Milan when the transfer window reopens in January.
Chelsea and AC Milan have done a lot of business recently, with Christian Pulisic just one name that has left Stamford Bridge for the San Siro.
It is a move that Pulisic will not regret, as the winger is currently thriving at Milan. This season, he has scored six goals in nine appearances. Pulisic has been urged not to join Liverpool amid links to the Merseyside club.
If the USA international does not leave Paulo Fonseca’s side, then he could be reunited with one of his former Chelsea teammates next year.
AC Milan still want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka
Chelsea were interested in signing Carney Chukwuemeka in the last transfer window but could not get a deal over the line.
It was claimed that Milan were keen on Chukwuemeka before cooling their interest in the midfielder because of Chelsea’s demands.
However, according to journalist Simon Phillips, they could go back in for him next year, though they may have some convincing to do.
On his Substack, he wrote: “SPTC sources have heard that AC Milan still want to sign Carney, and we believe that it would be a permanent deal, or at least a loan with an obligation to buy.
“We also heard that they have had new contacts with his reps and are trying to convince him to make the jump abroad, citing the success of other former Chelsea players who made the same jump, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori, and Christian Pulisic.”
Carney Chukwuemeka has no future under Enzo Maresca
If there is a chance for Chukwuemeka to join Milan in January, then he has to take it. Right now, he is just not getting a look-in under Enzo Maresca.
The Chelsea manager has not handed him a single minute in the Premier League this season, with his only game time coming in the Carabao Cup.
The 20-year-old has not even featured in the Conference League, though he was absent for Chelsea’s first league phase game because of illness.
Whatever the case, his future in west London looks bleak. With that in mind, a move to Milan could be perfect.
According to Phillips’ Substack, Chukwuemeka has a £40m release clause, a fee Milan will not want to pay for a player who is not even in his manager’s plans.
