An £88 million sensation for his nation just embarrassed a Celtics player.
An £88 million sensation for his nation just embarrassed a Celtics player.
Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, will be hopeful that his team returns from the
international break free of serious injuries or events that could impair their
performance for the team in the coming weeks.
It is unclear how serious the hit was to Adam Idah, who left the Ireland squad before
any games were played,
but he has already had to deal with it.
Luis Palma, who scored two goals for Honduras against Mexico, Anthony Ralston,
Arne Engels, and Alistair Johnston
are just a few of the players who have already represented their nations and stayed out of trouble.
But to put it mildly, one Celtic player had a memorable evening when Liam Scales,
the central defender,
was humiliated by England at Wembley.
The performance of Liam Scales versus England
In Sunday’s Nations League match against the Three Lions,
the Ireland international was part of a back five,
starting on the left side of a three-man central defensive unit.
With four of his five duels won, including a crucial challenge on
England captain Harry Kane in the middle of the pitch,
Scales had a great start to the match.
Jude Bellingham, who was acquired by Real Madrid for £88 million in the summer of 2023,
embarrassed the left-footed defense at the beginning of the second half, though.
With his first touch, the sensational midfielder gave the center-back a dream and
deceived the Celtic jerk into tripping him,
which resulted in a penalty, as seen in the video above.
He received a yellow card in the first half for delaying the restart, pushing the ball away with his hand,
and then kicking it away moments later, forcing the referee’s hand. This led to
his second booking of the game and a red card.
Bellingham embarrassed Scales, who had a 5/10 player rating from the Independent,
and let his team down in the process.
