Gonzalo Montiel is a player Everton is interested in signing.

In August, Everton attempted to sign Gonzalo Montiel, but the deal fell through.

Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo now claims that they have been granted another opportunity to sign him this winter.

Having only played 11 minutes of league football, Montiel has been declared surplus by Sevilla.

The player who netted the game-winning penalty in Argentina’s World Cup victory while on loan from Nottingham Forest may be available for as little as £3.3 million.

Sevilla will be keen to get him off the books as soon as possible since their manager, Garcia Pimienta, plans to buy a right-back to replace him in January.

Montiel would be a significant improvement over the former Manchester United defender because he clearly excels in every area of their underlying statistics.

However, it’s believed that Nottingham Forest, his old team and a Premier League powerhouse, might compete with Everton.
