Spurs Executive Director Donna-Maria Cullen has decided to leave the club after 14 years.
Donna-Maria Cullen, executive director of Tottenham Hotspur,
has discussed the difficulties and benefits of constructing a stadium worth £1.2 billion.
After their final departure from White Hart Lane in 2017,
Spurs had a brief stay at Wembley before moving into the 62,850-seat Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.
The modern stadium was first envisioned a few years ago,
but it was difficult to realize due to the logistical challenges of building such a complex in densely populated North London and the fact that the project ultimately cost £1 billion more than originally projected.
It will be the overnight success that actually took 25 years, to use a quote from Williamsburg.
We had to complete unlimited finances and land assembling.
We began with a stadium design and concept that cost £250 million, and we ultimately came up with £1.2 billion.
Using the agreement made with local brewers Beavertown to initially provide craft beer,
which was later bought out, Cullen explained that while the financial benefits of a new stadium were the driving force behind the construction,
doing the right thing by the community in which they lived was crucial.
A stadium of this caliber would be essential to Spurs’ ability to grow the business sustainably and create value at a later date, whenever the ENIC exit may be.
