Tottenham wonderkid to leave after starting just three games this season
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou might let a highly regarded player leave in January after giving them only
three starts this season.
Tottenham have had an uneven start to the 2024/25 season. They are presently fifth in the Premier League after
eight games, with four wins, one tie, and three losses.
Instead of throwing in the kids to help Spurs qualify for the Champions League, Postecoglou wants to help them
develop away from the club in the second half of the season.
According to Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte, Sevilla is considering making a loan offer for Archie Gray, whose
playing time at Spurs has been limited this season.
Gray signed for Tottenham in the summer for £40 million following a strong breakthrough season with Leeds United
in the Championship. The 18-year-old has yet to break into Postecoglou’s first team, having only played 33 minutes
of Premier League action.
Gray started both of Tottenham’s Europa League games and their League Cup victory against Coventry, but he needs
consistent first-team play to progress.
That’s why Sevilla is aiming to sign him on loan for six months, with former Leeds United director of football Victor
Orta – now Sevilla’s sporting director – hoping to reunite with the teenager in the south of Spain. While Orta did not
have the opportunity to watch Gray play for the first team during his tenure at Leeds, he would have been aware of
the burgeoning talent.
