Gian Piero Gasperini, head coach of Atalanta, feels enthusiastic about the team’s chances of winning versus the Celtics.
Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta’s coach, maintains that La Dea must deal with Celtic’s ‘pace’ in tomorrow’s Champions League match, but discloses a ’emergency’ in defence.
On Wednesday, Atalanta will host Celtic in Round 3 of the Champions League.
La Dea won two consecutive Serie A games and has four Champions League points after drawing with Arsenal and defeating Shakhtar Donetsk.
“The last two victories were pivotal in Serie A, but this is a different tournament. According to TMW, Gasp stated at a press conference that points will be more important in Round 3, allowing for consolidation of an already strong table.
Italy striker Mateo Retegui is the Serie A leading scorer with eight goals in eight appearances.
Gasperini reveals best Celtic qualities and Atalanta ’emergency’
“We’ve spoken everything and more about him. He can do even more. “He can still grow,” Gasperini stated.
“Celtic are used to playing to win. They have quick players, and we’ll need a strong performance to win. They assault with a large number of men, so we must be able to match their pace. “They can score a lot of goals,” he added.
“Celtic are an attacking-minded team, like those who want to win. They are a large team in Scotland. There are good clubs in the Champions League, and we’ve never changed our perspective on football, even after our early experiences when we conceded a lot of goals.
Celtic have been pretty inconsistent in the Champions League this term, winning 5-1 on their debut against Slovan Bratislava and losing 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund in Round 2.
“We must pay attention in the Champions League because top teams can score after any mistake,” insisted Gasperini.
“We’ll never make the error to consider one of their games that didn’t go well. We must be very careful.”
Due to the injuries of Giorgio Scalvini, Gianluca Scamacca, and Odilon Kossounou, as well as the fevers of Sead Kolasinac and Isak Hien, Gasp lacks defensive options.
The Atalanta coach stated, “We have to see how things work out in the final training session later today.”
“Defence is in crisis, particularly with Hien and Kolasinac. We’ll find out today.
“On defence, there are no doubts. We are the same as we were on Sunday for the others. Tomorrow, we’ll strive to give it our all on the pitch.
