Following Bournemouth’s fiasco, Arsenal are considering the Bundesliga talent ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.
Arsenal is reportedly one of several Premier League clubs showing’strong interest’ in RB Leipzig midfielder Oscar Gloukh. Following Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, Mikel Arteta’s side has expressed interest in the 20-year-old.

While William Saliba’s 30th-minute red card was a major factor in Arsenal’s failure to pick up any points on the south coast, it is worth mentioning that the Gunners had presented few attacking threats before to the French defender’s dismissal.

With Martin Odegaard still out of action due to an ankle injury sustained while on international duty in September, Mikel Merino was entrusted with standing in as club captain on Saturday. However, in a performance characterized by TeamTalk as ‘laboured’, the Spaniard misplaced 11 of his 35 attempted passes and lost six of 10 ground duels.

According to CaughtOffSide, Arsenal is currently’sizing up’ Gloukh in order to create competition for the attacking midfield berth while also relieving pressure on Odegaard and Merino. However, the north London club may have stiff competition for the 20-year-old’s signature, with reports stating that Aston Villa and Newcastle are also interested in the playmaker.

The Israeli international has seven goals in seven matches for the Austrian Bundesliga club this season, and an Emirates move would not only give excellent cover for the Gunners’ club captain, but it would also allow Merino to play in his preferred deeper midfield position.

He has now made over 100 professional appearances for the club and has been a regular starter in Austria since his £5 million move from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January 2023. At the time of his departure to Salzburg, it was reported that Barcelona attempted to sign Gloukh, with Fabrizio Romano also claiming that Benfica, Udinese, and Borussia Dortmund were also interested.

Salzburg is not currently pushing him out, but they would consider a January deal for the appropriate price, which is estimated to be around £29 million. Gloukh is also thought to be ‘open’ to heading to the Premier League, though it remains to be seen which team he chooses as the transfer season approaches.
