Chaos continues in Ibrox as Kilmarnock beats Rangers 1 : 0 . Philippe Clement states the way out…
The Gers will take on Derek McInnes’ men at Rugby Park in the Scottish Premiership on 20 October as club football resumes after the international break.
With Philippe Clement’s team already several points behind Celtic, Boyd was asked on Sky Sports News [19 October, 13:33] about the potential mood at Ibrox.
“I always think, you know Rangers and Celtic, that the pressure managers put on football clubs to win games of football. It’s a must-win every week, or there’s a crisis.
That’s just the nature of the beast for the two of them,” he said.
“The start that Rangers got, obviously drawing at Tynecastle. Watching at the time, you would’ve looked at it and thought it was maybe not the worst place to pick up a point.
However, one thing Clement can exploit is their defensive fragility, with Killie conceding 17 goals in total in the league so far.
Therefore, the likes of Cyriel Dessers and Tom Lawrence will be rubbing their hands at the chance of getting an opportunity to find the back of the net.
As things stand, Rangers are third in the table, and if they were to lose against Kilmarnock, there could be an eight-point gap formed.
Therefore, Clement must ensure that the Gers are set up to beat McInnes’ team convincingly and continue their domestic winning run after the 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
Hopefully, Kilmarnock will not pose a significant threat, and the Bears can coast past the hosts.
Boyd, who played for both Rangers and Kilmarnock, isn’t wrong about the pressures of managing a team like the Gers, but that has to be left at the door when arriving.
