In order to replace Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, Alan Shearer thinks Newcastle United needs to get another forward.

Due to Isak’s fractured toe and Wilson’s back ailment that has kept him out of action since preseason,

the Magpies have been without both strikers for the past three games.

With the £15 million signing of Will Osula from Sheffield United in the summer,

United appeared to have discovered their third-choice player; however,

he has yet to start in the Premier League and has only been off the bench once.
Osula played the entire ninety minutes in the Carabao Cup victory against AFC Wimbledon,

but Eddie Howe is hesitant to use him in league play. Instead,

he has Anthony Gordon as the team’s central striker for draws with Everton and Manchester City.

Gordon might start in the starting lineup once more when

Brighton & Hove Albion visits St. James’ Park on Saturday, however it is anticipated

that Wilson and Isak will return. Shearer, though, feels Newcastle cannot permit the scenario to continue.
Anthony Gordon has done a good job filling in as a center forward when called upon,

and I like him,” Shearer remarked. His readiness to play that position presents opponents with an alternative challenge.

“He’s more of a wide forward than a center forward,

but Isak and Wilson are dynamic in the box, and Newcastle needs to get them back in the lineup.”

Wilson in particular and Isak are both nearing a return for Newcastle this weekend,

this back & forth with the treatment table has been his career.

He’s had a period through most seasons where he’s been out injured,

which is frustrating for him and for whichever club he’s been at.

“Isak has been at Newcastle a couple of years now and he’s done well,

but there have been times where Newcastle have missed both him and Callum,

and that’s the frustrating thing for Eddie Howe.”
