Just in: After speaking with Anderlecht, Ange Postecoglou discusses Ryan Mason’s Tottenham future.

After missing out on the Anderlecht position, Spurs assistant coach Angel Postecoglou has stated that Ryan Mason is still “committed” to Tottenham despite having discussions with Belgian powerhouses about taking over as manager.

Following the firing of Brian Riemer last month,

the Spurs assistant coach had discussions with the Belgian powerhouse.
Mason, however, will remain at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the hiring of David Hubert as head coach.

“I take great pride in the fact that I have always worked on the premise that part of my role also involves developing coaches,” Postecoglou stated.

It’s clear that Ryan envisions himself seizing that chance in the future.

For the boys, this decision is crucial. We don’t really want them to go,

and Ryan is doing a fantastic job for us here.

To give Ryan credit, he was quite direct about it.

I told him that I didn’t want it to take too long, and he didn’t. He is dedicated to us and very content with his current situation.

According to reports, Anderlecht was hesitant to hire Mason, 33, because he had no prior experience working in Belgian football.

It was believed that several of their board members were worried about Scott Parker’s difficulties while he was a member of Club Brugge.
Mason served as Tottenham’s interim head coach twice,

first in 2021 following Jose Mourinho’s exit and again last year following Cristian Stellini’s replacement.

Mason, who came through the Spurs academy and made 70 appearances for the club during his playing career, has formed a key part of Postecoglou’s backroom staff since the Australian’s arrival.
