Breaking news: Chukwuemeka’s initial tenure at Chelsea
After joining Stamford Bridge in August 2022 for a reported £20 million,
the 20-year-old offensive midfielder has failed to establish himself as a regular player.
New manager Enzo Maresca has since informed the player that he is free to quit the team.
It was during his tenure at Villa Park that he played under Emery. The midfielder,
who was born in Austria, made 16 games for the team of his youth,
including 12 in the 2021–2022 season. The Blues signed him as a result of that;
Chukwuemeka is a highly regarded talent.
Still, it’s safe to say that the kid hasn’t exactly settled in West London.
Only 28 games in the iconic Blue shirt have been played by the England youth
international due to a combination of injury and a lack of confidence from his coaches.
Regretfully, he has had a lot of challenges due to his injuries.
The Aston Villa academy star has missed a staggering 44 games for both his club team
and the England minor teams due to nine separate incidents of illness or injury while playing for Chelsea.
He is a really gifted player, though. The young player is outstanding in confined places and rides opponents
‘ tackles with ease thanks to his lanky build. An ideal illustration of this was his first goal for
Chelsea against West Ham United in the previous campaign.
Football commentator Ben Mattinson claims that the Blues are “wasting” the former Villain.
He clarifies that he would be “useful for most teams,” and it is unclear why he was left off of
the Premier League roster for this season. Additionally, he receives a substantial weekly
salary—£100k, to be precise—which is somewhat more than three times Duran’s earnings.
Chukwuemeka has plenty of time to go on and restart his career at just 20 years old. But after
seeing this transaction, Villa supporters could regret not having retained him so he could
succeed under Emery at the team he grew up playing for.
