BREAKING NEWS: Aston Villa’s contract impasse could result in the loss of “generational talent.”

Aston Villa’s contract impasse could result in the loss of “generational talent.”

The talks are alleged to have started with academy manager Mark Harrison leading the push,

but eventually involved president of football operations Monchi and the first team.

Wilson is currently scheduled to leave in June unless he decides to reduce his demands.

According to The Athletic, the teenager has many admirers throughout Europe,

some of whom are willing to provide him a first-team career and a weekly salary of more than £20,000.

Given that Wilson’s deal to Villa contained a 10% sell-on clause, former team Rangers will be monitoring.

Wilson was much sought after, and Villa made a great first move in landing him despite intense

competition and a complicated contract because of his young age.

Wilson had only signed an amateur contract with Rangers at the age of sixteen,

and there was disagreement about whether transfer fees should be paid in lieu of compensation.

Ultimately, Villa paid £350,000 up front, with add-ons raising the total to £1 million,

according to The Athletic. However, a recent rumor from the journal indicates that Wilson

may decide to leave Villa since the negotiations over a new contract have broken down,

meaning that all of the efforts may have been in vain.

The Scotland Under-21 international, widely seen as a generational talent in his home nation,

has scored an impressive 35 goals in 52 appearances for Villa at under-18 and under-21 level.

The season before joining, the striker netted an astonishing 49 goals in youth matches for

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

With just eight months left on his current contract, it’s claimed Wilson is demanding a huge

wage increase of a level unprecedented in Villa’s academy. As there’s a strict wage structure in

place at the club, the Villans are unwilling to pay more than double that of the next

highest-earning youth player – and Wilson is asking for in excess of that.
