Unbelievable: Detroit Lions denies four-year $97m Contract extension with DT Alim McNeill
Brad Holmes, the Detroit Lions’ general manager, continues to add vital pieces to the organization. The Lions announced on Tuesday evening that they have agreed to a four-year contract extension with defensive tackle Alim McNeill.
The extension is worth $97 million, with $55 million guaranteed. That means he will earn approximately $24.25 million per season, making him the fourth-highest-paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL.
The 24-year-old is the third player picked by the Lions in 2021 to obtain an extension, and his Pro Football Focus grade this season is 79.8. In five games with Detroit, McNeill has eight tackles and 2.5 sacks.
McNeill and the Lions will next travel to Minnesota to face their NFC North rivals, the Vikings.
