Richard Wigglesworth has been installed as Steve Borthwick’s No 2 in England’s finalised
coaching team for the upcoming autumn series.
Felix Jones, the Irish defense coach who unexpectedly resigned in August,
will continue to work remotely next month.
Jones is under contract for a 12-month notice period, and his future plans will most likely be
announced on Wednesday when Borthwick picks his autumn team.
Joe El-Abd, the director of rugby at Oyonnax, is now in command of the defense and will
remain with the French club until the season ends.
“Richard’s deep knowledge of the game and his excellent tactical understanding mean he has
become a key figure in our coaching team,” Borthwick told reporters.
“He shares our emotional commitment to English rugby and I am certain he will play a
crucial role in driving the standards of this England team.”
Borthwick’s backroom crew is completed by El-Abd, Tom Harrison, Kevin Sinfield, and
Andrew Strawbridge, who will face the All Blacks on November 2.
