Unbelievable: Unexpected Hockey Club shut out opponents with incredible skills. “a very rare victory.”

The club has had a difficult time closing down opponents,
especially those who can strike quickly, like the two New York teams.
It’s taken a lot of effort to dig deep and get enough offence to offset the leaky back-line.
The Utah Hockey Club is off to a historic 3-0-0 start following wins over Chicago,
the Islanders, and Rangers.
Last night, the Utah Hockey Club joined the Vegas Golden Knights as the only
other NHL expansion team to win each of their first three games.

Here’s three takeaways from each of those wins.

The offence is deadly. The Utah Hockey Club enjoys playing with pace and skill,

and they’ve wasted no time in doing so. They’ve scored an incredible 16 goals in three games,

five of which have come from Dylan Guenther.

It only goes to show that this squad, like many of the league’s best transition teams,

will penalise you for mistakes. They move quickly over the rink and provide a lot of pressure to the puck.

The defence still needs work. Andre Tourigny stated that when you pressure the puck at a high rate,

you must hope that your defence can cover just as quickly.

But it is to be anticipated. You didn’t anticipate that everything would be worked out at this point in the season because it is still really early.

Additionally, keep in mind that cohesion takes time and that there are four new faces on the blue line,

two of which haven’t even made their debut yet. Tourigny’s style of play will develop during the

course of the season as the pairings solidify.

The victory from last night? Declaration. Last night, the Rangers were a clear favourite; on ESPN,

the moneyline closed at NYR -210.

The team’s ability to defeat the Blueshirts at home and win at MSG demonstrates that they are not just able to hang with the big guys but also to exploit their style of play.

It reminds me of the pre-season finale against Colorado,

where the squad basically muddled play enough to frustrate the Avalanche on their breakouts,

and eventually scored their own transition goal to win it on the power play early in the third.

This team finds ways to win, and it’s a far cry from their time in Arizona,

where distractions about relocation, ownership, and more seemed to sap all their energy every night.

They want to rewrite their story, and through three games, including last night’s huge win over the Rangers,

they are doing just that. Now we’ll see if they can keep it going.
