Rangers icon names ‘outstanding’ Celtic star as Poty so far as Ibrox coach prepares for EPL move
Scotland are in action on Saturday when they take on Croatia in the Nations League. Scottish Premiership football will return next weekend, following the end of the international break and there’s plenty to focus on.
Celtic are up against Aberdeen — who are the only team to match their perfect start to the 2024/25 season — in a mouthwatering top-of-the-table clash. Meanwhile, Rangers will hope to take advantage of at least one side dropping points as they prepare to take on Kilmarnock on the road.
As we wait for the league action to return, here are some of the latest headlines for Celtic and Rangers.
Kris Boyd has highlighted one of Celtic’s key stars as his Player of the Season so far while discussing Philippe Clement’s struggles with his squad options.
“We’re now in October, I couldn’t name Rangers’ best 11 right now, and I don’t think Philippe Clement can either, hence the reason he’s changing players every week,” the pundit told Williams Hill’s The Warm-Up Show.
Boyd also admitted that Nicolas Kühn would be his Player of the Season based on performances so far. After the German’s slow start to life at Parkhead, he has come flying out the blocks this season. The 24-year-old has racked up seven goalscoring contributions in as many Premiership appearances so far, and is on six goals and eights assists in 11 games across all competitions.
“He might have started a bit slowly [last season] but there was still glimpses there where you thought to yourself, there might be something there. It was just putting it all together, but I mean this season I think he’s been outstanding.”
Ex-Ibrox coach set for Premier League move
Former Rangers coach Cameron Campbell is ‘being readied’ for a move to the Premier League and a reunion with some fellow ex-Ibrox personnel. According to Rangers News, Campbell has been linked with Nottingham Forest, where he will join Ross Wilson, who is the club’s chief football officer, and head of academy coaching Craig Mulholland after both spent time in Glasgow.
Campbell has spent the last eight months in Germany with RB Leipzig as their talent development coach but he is now set to take on a similar youth coaching role at Forest’s Nigel Doughty Academy. The Premier League side have been looking to further establish their youth academy by bringing in new coaches and former players.
Forest are currently 10th in the EPL table, with as many points on the board from two wins and four draws. Some of their statement results included a 1-1 draw with Chelsea and a 1-0 win over Liverpool. They are currently ahead of the likes of Manchester United and West Ham in the table.
