Most likely, I want to correct you. Luke McCowan Responds to the Reporter’s Dortmund Inquiry
Celtic’s summer acquisition Luke McCowan has retaliated against claims that
the Hoops’ 7-1 Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund demonstrated a
significant drop in quality between the two teams.
McCowan was keen to deny that Celtic was outmatched by the German team despite the
crushing loss at the Westfalenstadion,
emphasizing instead Dortmund’s brutality that evening.
McCowan firmly corrected a reporter who had said that Dortmund was
“levels above” Celtic, expressing disagreement with the viewpoint stated.
McCowan said that rather than a big class divide between the two teams,
Celtic was just having a bad night.
“I probably want to correct you because I don’t think they were a level above,
” the summer signing for Celtic stated. I simply believe they were brutal,”
McCowan stated to RecordSport.
“We weren’t engaged in it. They’re not superior to Celtic, though.
Celtic and them are the same. Our club is just as large as theirs. That evening,
we were just not in it. We can probably gauge where we need to go by
looking at how the two teams performed that evening.
You want to be at the same level every week, whether you’re facing Dundee,
Dortmund,or anybody else in the league. No matter who you play,
Ross County and St Johnstone want you to play like a Champions League squad every single game.
During the game, Dortmund took advantage of Celtic’s errors and scored twice from penalties.
That score would not repeat itself nine times out of ten.
However, Brendan Rodgers and his team should view the match as a learning experience.
There are still six games left in the Champions League to compete for a spot in the next round of competition.
This was just the second game.
It will not be an easy night for the Bhoys, but they must demonstrate that they have
learned from their mistakes when they travel to Atlanta for their next competitive encounter.
