Bradley Beal Has A Bold Take On Why His 2017 Washington Wizards Could Have Easily Defeated LeBron James’ 2017 Cleveland Cavaliers
Bradley Beal built a deep connection with the team and its fans during his decade-long NBA career with the Washington Wizards. From his rookie season in 2012-13 until 2022-23, Beal remained a key figure for the Wizards. Among these, the 2016-17 season stands out as a high point when the Wizards finished with a 49-33 record.
Recently, Beal appeared on the Run Your Race podcast,
sharing a bold claim favoring the Wizards. He shared his belief that the 2016-17
Wizards had the potential to make a deep playoff run, even to the point of challenging the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The former Wizards player also expressed his confidence that Washington could have provided a tougher matchup for the Cavs than their eventual opponent, the Boston Celtics.
“The 2017 team. We talk about it all the time. The Cleveland dudes were like, ‘y’all lost.’ We felt like we would gave them a better matchup than Boston. Remember, we took Boston to seven that year. Our team was going crazy,” Beal said.
“That whole year with the Celtics, from ’16 to ’18, it was like their funeral. We’d wear black suits to the games,” he added.
