Thiago Motta criticizes Juventus’ board after graduating academy ace to replace injured Bremer.
When it comes to being able to replace the injured Gleison Bremer at center-back for Juventus, Thiago Motta has declared himself to be “the happiest coach in the world.” The Bianconeri intend to be without the Brazilian for an extended length of time.
In the first half of Wednesday’s wild 3-2 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig, Bremer sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. It is anticipated that Bremer will be out of commission for at least six months, if not longer.
Juventus lack depth in central defense because their starting lineup only includes two “natural” senior center-backs: Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu. The possibility that the team could reenter the market in January has already been floated, and Jakub Kiwior of Arsenal might be a possibility.
But with a busy schedule ahead of them, Juventus may need to try out a few new center backs as there are still plenty of games to be played before January.
Motta discusses Juventus’ center-back possibilities with Locatelli and Savona
During his pre-game press conference on Saturday, Thiago Motta was questioned about if he may test holding midfielder Manuel Locatelli in the center of defense or Nicolo Savona.
“Why not? When asked if he could play Locatelli as center back, Thiago Motta replied, “I would be the happiest coach in the world.”
“Savona, too, but I must witness these in training. I really hope so.
Savona is a right-back by trade, but he has height on his side. Locatelli is a midfielder, while Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, has played for Spain in the past.
