Defensive decision: Key player dropped, Stoke City team news, and starting XI against Swansea City.

This weekend, Stoke City will return to action in the Championship as they travel to the Swansea.com Stadium on the road to play Swansea City.

Stoke City enters the match with a lot of confidence after defeating Portsmouth 6-1 at the Bet365 Stadium the previous time around.

Tom Cannon, a Leicester City loanee, scored four goals against John Mousinho’s team in addition to goals from Andy Moran and Sam Gallagher.

When the Potters decided to part ways with Steven Schumacher last month,

they looked to former Norwich City and Huddersfield Town number two Narcis Pelach as their new manager.

His first two games in command were losses, one at home to Hull City and the other away to Middlesbrough.

The Staffordshire team needs to start improving right now in order to move up the league standings.

After eight games this season, they are now six points outside of the play-offs in 15th place.

News about Stoke City’s team

StokeOnTrentLive reports that winger Million Manhoef, who was left out of the team against Portsmouth, will need to be checked out by Stoke City.

Ashley Phillips and Gallagher are back together.

Ben Pearson, Lynden Gooch, and Bosun Lawal are not included, though.
Estimated XI

Johansson, Wilmot, Rose, Gibson, Stevens, Burger Moran, Bae Koumas, and Cannon Gallagher

Viktor Johansson, who Stoke City acquired from Rotherham United in the summer to strengthen their goalkeeping corps, will continue to start in goal.

It would not be shocking if Ben Wilmot, Michael Rose, Ben Gibson, and Enda Stevens continued as the starting defense.

The Brighton loan player, Moran, joined the squad for the most recent game and looked impressive in the middle of the park with Wouter Burger.

The Potters will be trying to cause Swansea City some trouble going forward,

and they have some scary options to choose from.

Lewis Koumas, who is on loan from Liverpool, appears to have a bright future in the game. Bae Jun-ho, meantime, is searching for his first objective of the new campaign.

Gallagher, a former Blackburn Rover,

scored a goal against Portsmouth, and he will now look to build on it.

Cannon, meanwhile, will be itching to increase his total.
