According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Russell Martin, the manager of Southampton, is in a “precarious position” following yet another humiliating loss to Bournemouth.

Senior journalist Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the 38-year-old is “alarmed” by Southampton’s 3-1 loss to fellow South Coast team Bournemouth.

Both the final result and the performance were incredibly disappointing, as the freshly promoted team lost all six of their Premier League games to start the season.

Martin’s team’s preparation for an away trip to the Emirates to take on an Arsenal team that is playing well won’t get any simpler this weekend.

It’s understood that the young coach does have ‘credit in the bank’ with the Southampton board but that will quickly be forgotten if he doesn’t start to pick up results soon.

Martin has been insistent on sticking with his preferred style, playing out from the back, yet the Saints are the lowest scoring side in the Premier League with just three goals in their opening six games.
