Jhon Duran, the star player for Aston Villa, is being closely watched by Real Madrid, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old Colombia international’s incredible start to the season at Villa has amazed Real’s recruitment squad.
Prior to the January transfer window, the Spanish powerhouses expressed a “concrete” interest in Duran and will keep an eye on his circumstances.
The youthful player stunned Bayern Munich 1-0 on Wednesday night in the Champions League by hitting the headlines throughout Europe with an incredible lob over Manuel Neuer in the 79th minute.
Since joining the Premier League from MLS team Chicago Fire in January 2023, Duran has outperformed Erling Haaland’s minutes-per-goal ratio of 85 minutes, scoring a goal every 82.78 minutes.

With six goals in just 297 minutes in nine appearances for Villa in all competitions so far this season—all of those goals came as substitutes—he has elevated his game to new heights.
In January of last year, Duran was acquired by Emery’s team for £14.75 million plus a possible £3.3 million in bonuses from Chicago Fire, securing his contract until July 2028.
With four victories, one tie, and one loss in their first six Premier League games, Villa is now ranked fifth in the league.
Real Madrid has had a lackluster start to the season by their extraordinarily high standards; they are currently three points behind rivals Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings.
They’ve struggled on the continent as well, falling to defeat in their trip to French side Lille, courtesy of a Jonathan David penalty just before half-time.
