BREAKING : Why the upcoming Marcondes deal is advantageous to City

Emiliano Marcondes is almost a Norwich City player, according to Johannes Hoff Thorup,

who also thinks his skills will offer them a new offensive option.

After reaching an agreement to sign a contract for the duration of the current season

with an option to extend by one more year, the adaptable Danish forward is scheduled

to finalize a free move to the Canaries today.

City is hoping that all the necessary documentation will be finished in time for

him to be included to the team for the Carrow Road match against Hull tomorrow.

Following a wave of offensive injuries, Norwich pounced on Marcondes,

adding depth to Thorup’s frontline options. The 29-year-old did not sign with

a club during the summer transfer window and left Bournemouth in the summer.

City’s interest in a player Thorup worked with at Nordsjaelland in 2019 and has

a close relationship with has increased as a result of the shift in circumstances.

On Friday, he outlined the benefits Marcondes will offer his group, assuming

the transaction goes through as planned.

“Maybe his best characteristic is that he is a game-player,” Thorup stated.

“It’s evident that he strives in games and enjoys the intensity of being heavily immersed in action.

“He plays with great vigor and enjoys being in the box and intense in his pressing game.

He would be a good player for us if we can get him into the team.

He will give us some options up front and can cover different positions.

“He can play as a nine, a ten and a little bit on the left side. He could be of great value to us.”

Thorup also knows Marcondes’ personality and believes he will enhance City’s group

as a human being as well as outlining why he didn’t form part of their summer window business.

“In addition to his charisma, he will bring some quality to the program.

He enjoys being outside and training,” the City manager remarked.

“I know that sometimes we have to pull him in to let him know that it’s finished.

Having a guy that is willing to go above and above and push

the team is beneficial for the environment. That is his personality.

As I mentioned earlier in the window, our plan was to somewhat lower the average age.

We succeeded in doing that, so although he may not have been our first objective,

given his injuries, he might now be.”
